Wake up!

"I used to see kids at the masjid in Malaysia, way before Fajr, working on their memorization," said hubby to the kids.

I don't remember when exactly but maybe a few days after that, H told me that he wanted to wake up at 4:30 am.

"What for?"

"To do my suwah!"

He actually laid out the prayer rug on the floor and slept on the floor.

The next morning, when he woke up, hubby told him to make wudhu and put his thawb on. H sat there and hubby told him to go back to bed. I don't know who was groggy, H or huby, but H ended up waking up just to make wudhu' and going back to sleep.

"He wanted to wake up to do his surah," I told hubby later that day.

Apparently hubby didn't realize that and told H to go back to sleep.

A few days later, H did it again; he slept on the floor and even put an alarm clock next to his head. I don't know if it went off, but hubby ended up picking him up and placing him back on the bed.

"Why?" I asked hubby.

"I just told him to pray fajr and go back to sleep," he said.

"But he wanted to do his surah," I said.

"His body might not be able to take it. Let it be gradual," he replied.

Last night, H did it again, but he slept on his bed, though he told me he wanted to wake up for Fajr.

We woke him up, and he joined us for salat, and went back to sleep.

Maybe in the winter, when the days are shorter and they can sleep earlier after Isha' he can do it, inshaallah. I just hope he will still have the desire to do so...
