I'm not very fond of uploading photos onto blogger because of the time it takes. The snapping of photos are way quicker than the display or presentation. As I was browsing through folders and folders of photos, I came across these 'school' pictures that I had intended to put up on the blog to share. This particular one was when N was learning about the kelp forest in the ocean. After each lesson I have them do something to put in their lapbook. N however decided to make a model of her help, labelling all the parts of the kelp. As I couldn't afford for our little apartment to become infested with school projects, I snap pictures (which is the reason hubby surprised me with the little camera) and keep those instead. So I really need to make a digital portfolio of what the kids have done. This was done last year, when N was in first grade.
We started going into lapbooks last year. When I ran out of cardboards I stopped and for a while, the kids' lapbook entries were piled in an ugly heap. When doc declared me free of the tortorous bedrest(I'm the kind of person who cannot sit still), I started organizing everything. Now they have quite a few lapbooks to work on. We were also out of glue so we weren't able to do anything (like glue the pieces in the lapbook) much.
I personally really love this lapbook idea (not mine, so can't take the credit, but whoever came up with it, GOOD JOB!). It's a great portfolio to browse through when the year is over. Below is H's Ancient Greece lapbook. It's amazing where a little creativity will lead you to. It's one of the things that makes me enjoy homeschooling. I somehow have an idea of how I'll handle things when baby comes insyaallah, but the tricky part would be when baby turns to a crawling, toddling, grabbing, put-everything-in-the-mouth, drooling machine. Our apartment right now is not baby-proof. I surely have a LOT of work if we don't move out soon. Well, if we move, it'll be a different kind of LOT of work, so I guess I'm done for either way.
