He finally rolled today! Well, yesterday they had put him on tummy time, and he had rolled from his tummy onto his back. But today he actually rolled onto his tummy and then onto his back by himself, with no nudging from us. Alhamdulillah.
His doctor had said,
"He just has no desire to roll over right now,"
and
"Enjoy this immobility because once they start moving they won't stop."
True, that. That he had no desire to roll over, because we're always in his face!
Now, he has taken to screaming, and it's surprising how loud a baby can be. I guess you can say it's ear-splitting. And he doesn't scream because of distress, but for fun. So you can imagine the racket we have in the house with me trying to explain something to the kids when homeschooling with Baby Z's lungs exercise in the background. Before this, the challenge was trying to explain things to the kids, while trying to keep my temper while holding a very fidgety baby with one hand. Add a screaming baby and I got myself a nuthouse.
Nevertheless, I somberly realized last night that in four months time inshaallah, he will be a year old. Oh how fast time flies. It's depressing. So in the meantime, I will cherish and revel in the sour smell of his hands that spend quite some time in his mouth, and that sweet baby breath of his. Months ago, he was so small that we were able to carry him with just one hand. Now, you sometimes have trouble holding him with both hands!
