Balancing Act

We went to the pediatrician again yesterday for a recheck of Baby Z's condition. Alhamdulillah, his overall condition has improved, though he is now wheezing. We had Baby Z on a nebulizer for about 5 minutes, but his wheezing still persisted.

"Well, that's actually good because usually, if the albuterol works on him it usually means he will have asthma later on, so it's good that it didn't work," said Dr. D.

Alhamdulillah.

He did change Baby Z's antibiotics because Baby Z was having diarrhea with the previous one (OMNICEF). Dr. D. did tell us that pneumonia does take longer to get rid off as opposed to ear infection, so I guess we'll ride this out inshaallah.

I was reading this this morning, and subhanallah, it really is true. Having a sick child is an opportunity to strengthen your relationship with Allah. In fact, any difficulty we face is an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Allah. If we reflect upon that, how amazing it is that Allah hands us these opportunities one after another each day. It is only up to us how to accept it, and that I think is where we falter, at least that is where I falter.

If I were to talk about tests and the good they do, this post would be too long, but this should be a constant reminder to me and all of us, because in this superficial life on earth, we can get carried away so easily.

On another note, I never thought of asking for deferral for the exam this Sunday. I just want to get it over with, and despite all that has been happening, I was wiling to just take the exam with very minimal studying. I snuck in some studying at the doctor's office yesterday, and when the nurse came in, she peered at the page I was reading and asked,

"Is that a recipe?"

Two people suggested I ask for deferral, and yesterday I filled in the online form. Now it's just waiting to see if they will aprrove my application or not. As for now, I guess I'll just continue trying to get more sleep (which is an ongoing battle mostly due to my own fault) and studying.
