I giggled when I read this, and I was a bit indignant too! Fancy my son calling me Miss Declutta (declutter, hubby-style). In exasperation, I have been decluttering their room as of late, several times, whenever they fail to listen to me to clean their room. In dismay they have watched me throw some of their 'creations' away, and I told them that they can't buy new toys, even with their own money, until they learn to keep their room clean, thus the poem above. Our apartment is really being overloaded. The three kids are growing and their clothes are getting bigger, such that the little towel closet cannot neatly contain their clothes anymore. Such a contrast from the times when they were younger; one small shelf was sufficient to harbor each child's clothes.
"I don't like it when my closet's messy, but there's no space to put them," N complained.
OHVA books and materials are not helping either. They send us the kids' books, and if two kids are ding the same thing they one for each child, which just decreases space in our tiny abode. I was assessing their shelf space last night and it did occur to me that were I to get rid of the OHVA books, the room and the whole apartment would get more space, but alas, we have to keep these books until K12 announces it is time to return them, which usually is sometimes in June. How I can't wait to be done!
Then there's my baking paraphernalia. When they were younger, I used to bake, and decorate cakes, so over the years, I have accumulated various cake decorating tools, flower making tools, and many-shaped pans. Ever since Baby Z was diagnosed with multiple allergies, I have stopped baking. Just cooking alone is a feat for me now as I have to be careful of what I put in the food. So all the baking paraphernalia is also taking up space. I had asked S,
"Do you want to bake ? Because if you don't I want to put all the baking stuff away in boxes until we move."
She shook her head. I was surprised and disappointed, because she is able to bake on her own, and I somewhat expected her to do the baking now that I can't even eat anything with eggs.
Then there is my sewing paraphernalia. When they were younger, I used to try my hand at sewing and quilting, and now crocheting. Suffice it to say, we have lots of unused fabric which I have accumulated over the years. I was too scared to cut them for fear of ruining them, but I have also managed to make some clothes for the girls, rag dolls, curtains for the apartment, and other home decor stuff. So it's still an ongoing thing - sewing.
Then there are the books. These are things I cannot part with. Our living room probably looks like a library! And now that all the kids are avid readers, we always have library books filling up the two boxes we have allocated on one shelf in the living room and the two boxes upstairs in their room. And I've even thrown out some of my old Enid Blyton books that had sentimental values.
It's actually a cross between these two factors: we're outgrowing the apartment & we have too much stuff.
That's what happens when you like to stay home all the time and develop more than one hobby. So...here comes Miss Declutta!

Buat spring cleaning ke? I'm always do that before. Thanks now because I move house which is bigger than before, but I did throw lots of thing especially children toys which are ruin. Anyway they all been bought in car boot sale. So, tak de lah sayang pun.
So, even this house is bigger than what we used to had, but, we tend not to keep too much. Dulu finie pun ada juga beli fabric sebab konon nak buat tu ini, tapi kat sini lebih murah beli ready made kat car boot. So, ada mesin jahit, tapi simpan ajelah.
Like you, I had too many book. Especially hubby book dari degree dengan children book. Plus mine.
And lots of kitchen stuff because I used to cook for malay community bile raya untuk 200 people. So, periuk nasi letrik besar pun Finie bawak dari Malaysia!!
Biasa lah tu. But know I learn a lesson. I did sell some children toys in ebay and book. So, try that if you like..

nadia terpk gak nak sell toys and brg yg nak buang kat ebay tp malas plak nak simpan brg2 tu sambil tunggu org nak beli and pastu nak ship...kitaorg pn dulu beli mainan dr goodwill (cam kedai murah) and actuallynye jarang sgt beli toys pun..ni lately ni diaorg ada duit sendiri nadia ckp leh spend so diaorg nakla beli toys sendiri..pastu bilik diaorg ni pun penuh dgn toys buat sendiri...diaorg amik kelas ceramics free so ada la bende2 ceramics dia yg dah kene buang..yg kene buang sume pun takdela sayang sgt in terms of duit sbb takde toys yg betul2 mahal pun..kitaorg mmg jarang spend duit beli toys..they don't ned it bec they end up making it themselves hehehe..cuma kesian kat diaorg sbb diaorg buat sendiri ...mcmla creation dr toilet paper tubela, kertas la, etc...had nadia pun byk gak periuk besar..msk utk melayu gak cuma takdela sampai 200 org..masak tuk budak2 bujang ..tp dah tak dah since homeschool more than 2 kids...nak msk tuk family sendiri pun tak dan kdg tu...mana lagi pulak nak masak uk org...cuma ada sekali tu MSD order buat roti cheese tuk budak melayu gathering...sothat's where bende2 baking tu come in...tp skang ni dapur dah tak berasap sgt la..takde mood nak masak sbballergy ni byk bende takleh makan.kicap takle (soy), wheat (any tepung biasa takleh) telur putih takleh (so nadia avoid gakla telur kuning even though boleh nanye), susu, peanut...so cam huh lagila malas nak masak or bake. dgn bende homeschool yg dgn curiculum OHVA ni mmg packed...tu yg gini ni. tak sabar nak abihkan thn ni..kitaorg dua bedroom je apt..budak2 ni dah bsar cani satu bilik..mmg crowded la..closet space diaorg sorg satu shelf kecik mmg semak la..dgn baju baby pn takde tempat sgt nak letak..eee bykla logistic problem dia heheh esp dgn baby. bila kemas je pastu sepah balik sbb dah buang buang pun tp ada gak nadia simpan sbb so taht nnt bila pindah tak yah beli baru..tp tula tah bilanye nak pinda..keje tgh tunggu lagi :P mg bersabar jela skang ni hehehe kdg2 rasa nak tarik2 rambut je tgk rumah dah penuh..ikut hati nak je buang i ni buang itu..tp still perlu lagi sementara blom pindah ni..haiii :D
